Addressing public concern, hospital evaluates infection rates

Reports addressing public concern over post-operation infection rates, as well as first- and second-quarter quality improvement statistics, were presented to the Upper San Juan Health Service District (USJHSD) Board of Directors July 22.

Infection rates

During the regular meeting of the board of directors in June, audience member Bill Wert voiced concerns about the hospital’s post-operation infection rate. Directors, per the request of Dr. Dave Shaeffer, chief of staff, asked for a report on infection rates to be presented during the board’s July meeting.

Jan Miller, quality improvement and risk management director, presented the report with help from Shaeffer and Sue Schmidt, clinical applications specialist.
