Firefighters report progress on KV Fire between Bayfield and Pagosa Springs

As of this morning, Durango Interagency Fire Dispatch reports that the KV Fire has not grown and is still estimated at about 10 acres.

The lightning-caused fire is burning about one and a half miles north of U.S.160 up the First Fork Road on the west side of the Piedra River in the San Juan National Forest.

Air tankers used yesterday have been released, but a helicopter continues to provide air support, while about 45 firefighters build containment lines.

Higher humidity has aided the effort, and estimates are that the fire could be fully contained later today. No other wildfires have been reported on the National Forest at this time.
