With the rise in popularity of backyard gardening, some Pagosans have found themselves with excess produce from week to week. The Pagosa Farmers Market now provides a venue for these growers to share the products of their labors.

The “Small Grower Coop” was formed in 2010 and is coordinated by Barbara Asprey. The result is a variety of fresh herbs, plants, greens and vegetables straight from local backyards. Anyone who understands the challenges of climate and altitude in our area knows that vegetable gardening here is not for the faint of heart. Visiting the “Small Grower Coop” booth at the market is the easy way to enjoy backyard produce.

The Pagosa Farmers Market includes 18-20 vendors weekly on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its new location — the East Side Market in downtown Pagosa Springs.
