Hospital approaches $3 million in charity care annually

Tuesday night’s board meeting of the Upper San Juan Health Service District (USJHSD) was touted as being “one of the most efficient board meetings we’ve ever had,” by district chief financial officer Dennis Wilson.

The meeting started off with the swearing in of Dr. Richard Zak, who will play a key role in the recommendation of granting and renewing provider privileges. Zak, along with USJHSD Chief of Staff Dr. David Shaeffer, entered into executive session with the board at the end of the meeting to discuss personnel credentials and to provide guidance from a medical standpoint. After leaving executive session, the board approved all credential recommendations.
