On Sunday, June 8, Bill Delany will offer his opinions on marijuana usage, medical and otherwise, at the Pagosa Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall. Topics will include his thoughts on how marijuana usage affects the health care system, children, economics, tourism, real estate, community values, science, spirituality, addictions, legal and otherwise, and governmental attitudes.
Personally, Delany has controlled a severe case of Crohn’s disease, as well as melanoma cancer, using medical marijuana. He is now prescription drug-free after being declared totally and permanently disabled by both the VA and the Social Security Administration in 2008. He was able to transition from collecting disability checks to now employing others. Delany credits medical marijuana usage for his health turnaround and he looks forward to exploring other aspects of this multifaceted herb that is now legal in Archuleta County and Colorado. There will be a brief question-and-answer period following his talk.
This talk is an opportunity for UU congregations to express their commitment to our Fourth Principle: A free and responsible search for truth and meaning. The Pagosa Unitarian Universalist Fellowship sponsors a children’s spiritual educational program and encourages families with children to please join us for our Sunday service. Our children’s religious programs teach our Unitarian Universalist heritage, ethical living, moral precepts to love your neighbor, work for a better world and to search for truth with an open mind. We also offer a number of inter-generational program activities. Arts and crafts projects are utilized to illustrate these principles.
The service begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Pagosa Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall. The address is Unit B-15, Greenbriar Plaza. Turn east on Greenbriar Drive off of North Pagosa Boulevard by the fire station, then left into the back parking lot and look for the big sign. All are welcome.
