Medicare counseling will now be offered, by appointment only, every Wednesday at the Senior Center (Community Center).

If you are already on Medicare and need to review your plan (each year), we can help. If you are turning 65 this year and need help or have questions, we can help. If you are receiving Social Security disability benefits, you are probably eligible for Medicare and we can help.

You may be eligible for extra help if your income falls below a certain amount. Again, we can help.

Call to make an appointment by contacting the San Juan Basin Area Agency on Aging in Pagosa Springs. Our experienced and talented Medicare counselors are here to help and the service is free. Call 264-0502.

What’s happening in May

Transportation vouchers

Archuleta Seniors (60 years and older) and their chosen drivers (18 years and older) may apply for transportation vouchers at the Pagosa Springs Senior Center (451 Hot Springs Blvd.). Drivers and participants fill out a registration form. Participants will be screened for eligibility.

Eligible trip areas are: lunch at the senior center, travel within the limits of the Town of Pagosa Springs (i.e. the grocery store, post office, church, library, sporting events, plays, fishing, other recreation, etc.), travel within Archuleta County and medical trips to Durango.

In order to qualify for the medical trips to Durango, the participant will need a referral from the medical/dental/optical provider. Documentation from the medical/dental provider will need to be attached to the voucher. If the driver and participant are in agreement, they may go to other destinations in Durango, but a medical appointment must be the reason for the trip. Call 264-2167.

Car wash and bake sale

A car wash and bake sale will be held at the Mud Shaver Car Wash on Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
