Pagosa cookbook contest winners announced

It was a fun and delightful turnout for the third installment of the Pagosa cookbook contest on Friday, May 2.

The celebrity judge was Pagosa Springs Mayor Don Volger. Other judges included Natalie Carpenter, Marsha Kerns, Matt Sprols and C.K. Patel.

Recipe winners include: gold — Char Siu barbecue kebabs, Emily Jones; silver — warm poached sausage with potato salad, Pam Hotchkiss; bronze — Swedish meatballs, Tari Woods; honorable mention — chicken fricassee, Evelyn Jones.

Casserole recipes: gold — wild mushroom ravioli in spinach cheese sauce, Tari Woods; silver — Pasta Raphael over tortellini, Pam Hotchkiss; bronze — chicken Alfredo, Janet Tjelmeland.

Side recipes: gold — Colorado creamed corn, Tim Collins; silver — onion corn shortbread, Ramona Tschaar.

People’s Choice Award for entrees: tie — Char Siu barbecue kebabs, Emily Jones and chicken fricassee, Evelyn Jones.

People’s Choice Award for casseroles: wild mushroom ravioli in spinach cheese sauce, Tari Woods.

People’s Choice Award for sides: onion corn shortbread, Ramona Tschaar.

We are very excited at the prospect of having the temporary ice rink up and running this winter. The board is still looking for donors and those willing to help. We have a temporary rink, but still need land, and there are many other opportunities to pitch in.
