San Juan Back  Country Horsemen meeting welcomes everyone

The San Juan Back Country Horsemen members will meet Monday, March 17.  The night’s program will be a double-header: Ros Wu and Phyllis Wheaton of the Pagosa Ranger District will present a program about this year’s 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act, and Lisa McClure of the Divide Ranger District of the Rio Grande National Forest will talk about general forest issues and projects, including trail and trailhead work.

Ros Wu is currently the outfitter/guide and wilderness program lead on the Pagosa Ranger District. Phyllis Wheaton is retired from the Forest Service, where she ran the Pagosa Ranger District Wilderness program in the past, as well as the front desk and interpretive programs. Planning for celebrations of the Wilderness Act’s 50th anniversary is underway.

Lisa McClure is trails manager for the Divide Ranger District of the Rio Grande National Forest.   She will talk about general forest issues and projects, including trail and trailhead work.

The social time for the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Archuleta County Fairgrounds Extension Building on U.S. 84, one-quarter mile south of Pagosa Springs, and the meeting will start at 7 p.m. Everyone’s welcome to attend.
