School board seeks safe traffic solution

The Archuleta School District Board of Education held a special work session Tuesday evening to discuss the traffic situation at the elementary school. Several representatives from the Town of Pagosa Springs and the Archuleta County Board of County Commissioners were included in the conversation.

The problem under discussion arose at the beginning of the 2012-13 school year, shortly after the Colorado Department of Transportation installed a new traffic control light at the intersection of Eighth Street and U.S. 160 in August. In the process, the CDOT crew re-striped the highway and eliminated the right-turn lane at Tenth Street.
