Big game season structure meeting to take place

The department of Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is holding a big game season structure meeting on Feb. 26 in Durango.

The meeting will cover the new five-year proposal for big game hunting seasons from 2015 through 2019. All residents in the Four Corners area interested in learning about the proposal are invited to attend.

According to the meeting announcement issued by CPW, major issues being discussed, “include the number of seasons for each species, the overlap among different seasons, breaks between seasons and the beginning and ending dates of hunting seasons.”

Seasons to be discussed include: deer, elk, moose, pronghorn, black bear and mountain lion.

The meeting is not exclusively for hunters. CPW announced that it would like to hear from anyone interested in big game hunting, including businesses, landowners and other community members.

The meeting will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Extension Building, 2500 N. Main Ave. in Durango.
