Special to The PREVIEW

Cooking Matters will be offering free grocery store tours on Friday, Feb. 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pagosa Springs City Market, beginning every half-hour, with the last tour beginning at 3 p.m.

Tours last about an hour and include interactive discussions regarding how to become a “food detective” when reading food labels, ways to purchase fruits and veggies on a budget, unit pricing and more. These tours, dubbed “Cooking Matters at the Store” tours, help show families how to shop healthfully on a limited budget. Parents of young children are particularly encouraged to attend, and we’ll have kid-friendly recipes available.

All participants receive a free $10 gift card to the grocery store, a booklet with tips and recipes, a reusable bag, seasonal recipes and great information about how to find hot deals at the store this winter. Bring a guest to the event and win a door prize.
