The Dr. Mary Fisher Medical Foundation will host this year’s Heartbeat Ball on Friday, Feb. 28, 7-10 p.m. at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts.
After last year’s success in kicking off the campaign to bring digital mammography to Pagosa Springs, the foundation is dedicating this year’s proceeds to the master planning for expanded primary and specialist care facilities at Pagosa Springs Medical Center.
“With the Pat and Nancy Artis Digital Mammography Suite successfully funded and officially open, we’re ready to focus on a new healthcare priority for our community,” said PSMC CEO Brad Cochennet.
This year’s event has a “Rat Pack” theme, with live music by Johnny K. and the Heartbeats, featuring Bob Hemenger, DC Duncan, Evan Suiter and Ryan McCurry. Start time is a little later than usual, at 7 p.m.
“We wanted to focus on the things people told us they enjoyed most: dancing, socializing and dessert. So this year, we’re asking people to arrive after dinner for gourmet dessert and drink pairings, a bigger dance floor and a great band,” said PSMC Director of Development and Marketing Claire Bradshaw.
The evening’s program will also feature a complimentary dance lesson with Elizabeth Howey and Les Linton followed by a Pagosa dance-off, where guests can “vote with their pocketbooks” for their favorite dancers. Dance-off couples (Kitzel and Derek Farrah, Caroline Riedberger and Haz Saïd, Nancy Ford and Nick Tallent, Sarah Savage and Tom Galvin, and Elizabeth Coleman and Richard Wholf) are practicing their hearts out at the guidance of instructors Wayne Lauffer and Phyllis Wheaton.
