Additional special districts seeking candidates for May 6 election

Several special districts are seeking nominations for board seats to be voted for on Tuesday, May 6. The following districts have submitted notices of their elections to The SUN. Official notices can be found in the Public Notices section of The SUN. Details concerning each district are outlined below.

San Juan Conservation District

The San Juan Conservation District (SJCD) will hold a regular special district election between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6. The district seeks to elect two directors to its board to serve a four-year term.

Eligible electors of the SJCD interested in serving on the board may obtain a Self-Nomination and Acceptance form from Cynthia Purcell, the designated election official. Forms must be submitted and received by Purcell no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. Affidavit of Intent To Be A Write-In-Candidate forms must be submitted to Purcell by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 3.

Purcell’s office is open Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office address is 505 A County Road 600, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147.

San Juan River Village Metropolitan District

The San Juan River Village Metropolitan District (SJRVMD) will hold a regular special district election between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6. The district seeks to elect three directors to its board to serve four-year terms.

Eligible electors of the SJRVMD interested in serving on the board may obtain a Self-Nomination and Acceptance form from Cynthia Purcell, the designated election official, through the care of Lisa Quiller with Wilson, Rea, Beckel & Associates. Forms must be submitted and received by Purcell no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. Affidavit of Intent To Be A Write-In-Candidate forms must be submitted to Purcell by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 3.

Wilson, Rea, Beckel & Associates is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The address for the office is 56 Talisman Drive, Suite 8B, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147.

Piedra Park Metro

Improvement District Water District

The Piedra Park Metro Improvement District Water District (PPMIDWD) will hold a regular special district election between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6. The district seeks to elect two directors to its board to serve four-year terms.

Eligible electors of the PPMIDWD interested in serving on the board may obtain a Self-Nomination and Acceptance form from Randal Fox, the designated election official. Forms must be submitted and received by Fox no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. Affidavit of Intent To Be A Write-In-Candidate forms must be submitted to Fox by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 3.

Fox’s office is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office address is P.O. Box 1912, Arboles, CO 81121.

Pagosa Fire Protection District

The Pagosa Fire Protection District (PFPD) will hold a regular special district election between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6. The district seeks to elect three directors to its board to serve four-year terms.

Eligible electors of the PFPD interested in serving on the board may obtain a Self-Nomination and Acceptance form from Diane Bower, the designated election official. Forms must be submitted and received by Bower no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. Affidavit of Intent To Be A Write-In-Candidate forms must be submitted to Bower by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 3.

Bower’s office is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is closed for the lunch hour from noon to 1 p.m. The office address is 191 N. Pagosa Blvd., Pagosa Springs, CO 81147.

Los Pinos Fire Protection District

The Los Pinos Fire Protection District (LPFPD), covering areas in both La Plata and Archuleta counties, will hold a regular special district election between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6. The district seeks to elect two directors to its board to serve four-year terms, and one director to serve a two-year term.

Eligible electors of the LPFPD interested in serving on the board may obtain a Self-Nomination and Acceptance form from Larry Behrens, the designated election official. Forms must be submitted and received by Behrens no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. Affidavit of Intent To Be A Write-In-Candidate forms must be submitted to Behrens by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 3.

Behrens’ office is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office address is 275 Browning Ave., Ignacio, CO 81137.
