Special to The PREVIEW

The Mountain View Homemakers will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, in the Extension Building at the fairgrounds. All area women are invited to come and enjoy a great meal and a fun program.

Promptly at noon there will be a covered dish lunch, followed by the program led by one of our new presidents, Cheryl Moore.

The program is entitled “These Are a Few of my Favorite Things,” and everyone attending is invited to bring one or two of their own “favorite things” and be ready to say why the item or “thing” is so dear to them.

Since some of us may have difficulty deciding what to bring, Cheryl has prepared the following list of suggestions.

Possibilities include: a book to recommend; a treasured item; a cleaning tip; a favorite bed and breakfast tip; an App or a website. Her other suggestions include: a sewing, knitting or crocheting tip; a recipe or kitchen tip; a favorite place to travel, bike or hike; a beauty tip or cosmetic you love.

Sharing these with others attending should make for a fun day. A short business meeting and announcements will follow the program.

All women are invited to come. There are no dues and visitors become members when they return for a second meeting. Visitors are not expected to bring a covered dish, and members can choose to pick up something at the supermarket if they want to do so rather than cook, or come without a dish if providing one is not convenient.

Mountain View Homemakers Club is a group of women who work to make our homes and our community better. Most months we meet at the Extension building to hear an enlightening program.

Once or twice a year, the group has a work day to make pillows and blankets or other needed items for use by babies, children or the elderly. There are two fundraisers each year — an auction in July and producing the annual Holiday Bazaar in November— which allow the club to help many local nonprofits.
