Families, couples, singles and kids of all ages are invited to a community country dance and dinner, featuring a live band and famous Elvis Lyrics, on Saturday, Feb. 8. The event will be held at the Catholic Parish Hall on Lewis Street.
Wendy Graham, the dance caller, is a “self-described dance maniac who serves up delicious and nutritious dances for all with infectious enthusiasm and a smile.”
Wendy hosts regular folk and social dances in Durango, but she also calls community dances, dance weekends and dance weeks throughout the U.S. and abroad.
The good news is that you don’t even have to have dancing experience. The easy dances she teaches are practiced first, so that everyone is successful. Many find that they don’t want to leave the dance floor at all.
The Six Dollar String Band, whose music will keep your feet tapping, are firmly committed to traditional American roots music. They do so in a manner that’s vibrant, relevant and enjoyable to audiences of all ages and musical backgrounds. The musicians of The Six Dollar String Band are Tony Holmquist, fiddle; Stephen Sellers, upright bass; Brendan Shafer, clawhammer banjo; and Cyle Talley, guitar.
A light dinner of soup, salad and bread will be served. Cost is $8 for an adult or $20 for a family. All monies collected at the event will help Nancy Burke from Grace in Pagosa Church to go on a mission trip to Uganda with Hands Across Nations in April.
