Valentine’s Day is just two weeks away. Are your plans made? If you want to treat and impress your sweetie, take her or him out for dinner at your favorite restaurant and pay for your meal with United Way Dining Certificates.

Dining certificates cost $20 and are valid at 31 local restaurants, including a few that are new to the program this year. Did you even know we had so many great restaurants?

Twenty dollars buys you a certificate worth exactly twenty dollars at participating restaurants. These restaurants donate $4 from every certificate to United Way in Archuleta County. Locally, United Way supports 12 local, nonprofit agencies working in the areas of health, education and self-reliance.

Using United Way dining certificates when you go out to eat is a win-win! You win by enjoying a good meal and showing how much you care about your community. Your community benefits with the donation from the restaurant, at no cost to you.

Most restaurants allow you to use more than one certificate in one sitting, as long as you spend in multiples of $20. Most allow the certificates to be used for beverages as well as food, but please check with your server when ordering. Certificates are not to be used for tax and tip.

Returning favorites this year are: A Chivalrous Shark, Alley House Grille, Back Room Wine Bar, Farrago Market Café, Nello’s Bistro, Kip’s Grill and Cantina, Boss Hogg’s Restaurant and Saloon, Smoken Moe’s Unreal BBQ, Buffalo Inn Restaurant and Bar, Coyote Moon Bar and Grill, On the Rocks, Chimney Rock Restaurant and Tavern, Café Colorado, Pagosa Baking Company, Higher Grounds Coffee Company, Two Chicks and a Hippie, Boulder Coffee Café, The Rose Restaurant, Shang Hai Chinese Restaurant, Thai Chili, Chavolo’s Mexican Restaurant, Ramon’s Mexican Restaurant, DSP Pizzeria, Pagosa Peaks Pizza and Pagosa Brewing Company.

New participating restaurants are: The Buck Stops Here Market and Eatery, The Peak Deli, Marconi’s Italian Restaurant, The View, JJ’s Chillin’ and Grillin’ in the Fabulous ‘50s, and Riff Raff Brewing Company.

You can purchase United Way dining certificates by contacting the local office at lisaj@unitedway-swco.org or 731-0484. You can also pick them up from United Way volunteers and partner agencies, and at the Pagosa Springs Area Chamber of Commerce, Pagosa Lakes Recreation Center and the Ross Aragon Community Center.

Don’t wait! Valentine’s Day is almost here! Dining certificates are valid through March 31, 2014.
