Our mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong enduring professionally supported, one-on-one relationships that change their lives for the better forever. By providing these children with a strong positive role model, BBBS is also strengthening self confidence and empowering children to achieve more and give them the building blocks they need to be successful contributing members of society.
Many studies have been conducted that prove that mentoring works: 92 percent of parents in BBBS in Pagosa report that their children’s self confidence has improved; 68 percent see an improvement in their child’s academic performance; 90 percent of the kids in BBBS report that they have an increased interest in learning new things; 75 percent of mentors reported that they saw increased decision making ability in the children they work with.
Mentoring with BBBS positively impacts and empowers children over their entire lifetime.
We are grateful to be one of the recipients of the proceeds from the Happy Trails Fashion’s Night Out. The ladies who make up WHO, “Women Helping Others,” do great things to support charities in Pagosa Country.
Their third annual Fashion Show will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 6 p.m. at the Ross Aragon Community Center.
Tickets are $35 and are available from BBBS, at Happy Trails, from Sharee Grazda at 731-0317, and at other locations. Please join us for a fabulous night of fashion, good friends and good causes.
