Continuing its Free Information Series designed to help members, “save their energy,” La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) will host a “Basics of Bulbs” workshop, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the Sisson Library in Pagosa Springs.

All those interested in learning more about new lighting technology are invited to attend. Lunch will be served.

“Not all light bulbs are created equal,” said Ray Pierotti, project specialist, who oversees lighting programs for LPEA. “And lighting technology continues to evolve — quickly. We will share the latest information with our members, and hope to answer a lot of questions, especially concerning how to identify the appropriate LED bulb for each application. Though the price for LEDs is dropping, the cost remains much higher than other lighting sources, so it pays for members to do their homework before purchasing.”

In addition to Pierotti’s presentation on the basics of light bulbs and how to wade through the options, local merchants who carry the new energy-efficient bulbs will be on hand to briefly explain their products and all that is available to consumers on a retail level.

Because lunch will be served, those interested in attending the workshop are asked to R.S.V.P. to Pierotti at rpierotti@lpea.coop or 382-7770.
