About 100 current and former members of Mountain View Homemakers and several guests are expected to gather Thursday, Sept. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Extension Building at the fairgrounds. The 50th anniversary celebration will begin at 11:15 with proclamations by dignitaries and recognition of former officers.
Tables for the event are being decorated in monthly themes by committees made up of members whose birthdays are from that month, so the wide diversity of decorations should be interesting. Also, each monthly group will provide a dozen cupcakes toward the deserts.
One of the officers will read the club’s creed and another will give the club’s blessing.
At noon, there will be an extensive salad bar and the special cupcakes.
Following that will be a tribute to the hundreds of women who have worked as Mountain View Homemakers Club members during past years to benefit our homes and our community.
Then, Peggy Case, one of the very first members of the club, will share some of her favorite memories. Several other women who have been members for almost as long will share memories as well.
For months, there have been members at work on a cookbook that contains recipes from throughout the years. The finished cookbook will be presented for sale at the celebration. The cover of the loose-leafed binder has a print of a watercolor painting of Treasure Falls and inside there will be room for additional recipes within.

The Mountain View Homemaker Club is open to all women and there are no dues. Most months the club meets at the Extension Building for a covered dish lunch and an interesting program. Occasionally, the group will have a work day for making blankets, comfort pillows and other items needed in this and surrounding communities.
Members represent the club by working at Loaves and Fishes, providing lunches to Habitat workers and doing much more. Their fund-raising efforts include sponsoring the annual Holiday Bazaar. The money they raise is distributed to local non-profits.
