That’s a lot of green chile. The judges at Saturdays Patty Aragon Green Chile Classic had 44 entries to consider before picking their favorites. From left are Karen White-Pargin, Matt Yoksh and Wyoming resident Jim Pederson.
Saturday’s Patty Aragon Green Chile Classic at the Mountain Chile Cha Cha was a great success, with 44 entries.
The first-place winners in each category took home $200 and a trophy. Second- and third-place winners received medals.
People’s Choice:
First place — Barbara Laydon.
Second place — Bear Creek.
Third place — Ron Martinez.
Vegetarian:
First place — Jillian Jolley.
Second place — Lisa Miranda.
Third place — Patty Black.
Meat:
First place — Connie Chubbuck.
Second place — Bear Creek.
Third place — Eliza Lucero.
As usual, the numbers were very close. Thanks to everyone for entering and coming out for a taste.
In the very popular, new addition to the Cha Cha — the Margarita Contest — there were three categories and the winners were:
• Traditional: Chavolo’s for their original recipe.
• Flavored: Pagosa Brewing Company for their Pomegranate Margarita.
• Creative: The View for their Jalapeno Cucumber Margarita.
Each winner received a hand-crafted Chile medal, made by Scott Slind.
