Last month’s unemployment rate for Archuleta County was 7.1 percent, a slight drop from June’s 7.8 percent, but down significantly compared to 8.9 percent (revised) for July of 2012, according to a report issued last week by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.
There were 6,603 people in the county’s labor force and of those 466 claimed unemployment. This was an increase in the total workforce compared to 6,450 in June, but a decrease in the number of unemployed people — down from 505. The trend was the same over the year, with 6,456 total Archuleta County workers in 2012, of which 575 were unemployed.
