On Sunday, Aug. 4, the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will discuss the virtue of justice.
Although the word “justice” appears in many of our most important documents, including the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Pledge of Allegiance, it continues to elude precise definition.
Philosophers, theologians, legislators and just ordinary folk struggle to understand its workings.
This Sunday, Pauline Benetti will focus our attention on that struggle in light of the tragic death of the young black boy, Treyvon Martin, and discuss appropriate responses when justice seems not to have been served.
How are we to feel? What are we to do?
Benetti will be assisted in this effort by the President of the United States.
Benetti is the current president of the PUUF steering committee and a member of the worship committee. Her activism finds its expression working with individuals who desire to increase our chances of survival by reducing our rapacious demands on planet Earth. She finds these folks in the Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership, the Southwest Organization for Sustainability, the Pagosa Farmers Market and in the PUUF.
The service begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall. The address is Unit B-15, Greenbriar Plaza. Turn east on Greenbriar Drive off of North Pagosa Boulevard by the fire station, then left into the back parking lot and look for the big sign. All are welcome.
