Photo courtesy PSMCThe Pagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) is accepting silent bids on a 20x30-inch signed and numbered giclée print (100 print edition) of the painting “Among God’s Creations” by acclaimed local artist Wayne Justus.
The auction is being held to support the current capital campaign to enhance the Women’s Health Program by providing low cost, local mammography services, specialized physician care and a dedicated treatment space.
Silent bids will be accepted until 4 p.m. on Aug. 17. Once time has ended for bids, the highest bidder will be selected and contacted to schedule receipt of the print. If there is a tie on the bids, the earliest date on a bid form will determine the winner.
Justus is a nationally recognized artist who has called Pagosa Springs his home since 1978. His work has been represented in auctions by Alermann Galleries, Jackson Hole Area Auction, National Cowboy and Western Heritage Prix de West, and Heritage Auctions. His work represents scenes from the West and the Civil War.
In addition to the print for the silent auction, Justus will also donate 20 percent of his art sales until the end of September when buyers mention the Women’s Health fund-raiser.
At this time, the PSMC and donors have raised $450,000 to fund the Women’s Health Program.
“With this four hundred and fifty-thousand dollars, we do have enough to purchase the mammography machine and remodel the mammography suite, as well as hire a patient navigator,” said Claire Bradshaw, director of development. “Additional funds will help us create a fund for low-income women, so that all women have access in Archuleta County for digital mammography.”
The next goal in the Women’s Health Campaign is $600,000.
