On July 9, the Archuleta County Republican Women continues the tradition of hosting important and informative local, state and national speakers.

Mike McLachlan (D-Durango) from the Colorado State House of Representatives, District 59, will be the featured speaker. He is serving his first term in the House.

In his online Durango Herald article on Feb. 25, 2013, McLachlan was quoted as saying that he is, “trying to strike a balance between a constitutional right and public safety.”

At the Tuesday, July 9, ACRW meeting, noon to 1:30 p.m. at Nello’s Restaurant, there will be time to ask questions as well as hear of directions and issues Rep. McLachlan is working on in the House.

Representative McLachlan has resided in La Plata County for 38 years, working as a prosecutor and La Plata County Attorney. In 1999, then Attorney General Ken Salazar appointed Mike as Colorado’s Solicitor General. For the last 10 years, he has been named one of “the Best Lawyers in America.” One of his connections with Pagosa is having served on the Fred Harman Museum board in the past.

All are welcome to attend the meeting. Nello’s offers a special lunch choice during ACRW meetings.
