The Pagosa Springs Area Association of REALTORS (“PSAAR”) is accepting grant applications from qualified organizations that provide housing services to moderate to low-income households.

The deadline to submit applications is July 19, 2013.

“PSAAR has $1,317.69 available for local housing projects,” said Pam Eaton-Scott, incoming PSAAR president. “To date, the Colorado Association of REALTORS Housing Opportunity Foundation (CARHOF) has granted more than $7.4 million statewide to over 100 nonprofit and public agencies.”

Using revenue generated by CARHOF, PSAAR invests in local nonprofit organizations that provide critical housing services to meet the needs of the community.

CARHOF, a 501(c)(3) foundation created by the Colorado Association of REALTORS, collects interest from earnest money held in home purchases. By law, escrow trust accounts cannot earn interest. With CARHOF, however, the interest can be collected and made available as grants supporting crisis shelters, affordable housing developments, down payment assistance programs and other housing-related projects.

To be eligible for funds, organizations must be based in Colorado, have a housing-related mission, and be a nonprofit agency with a 501(c)(3) status or a public agency.
