Pagosa Springs recreation center idea resurfaces at meeting

The idea of building a recreation center in Pagosa Springs resurfaced at the late-May town council meeting when Parelli president Mark Weiler, who recently stepped down as a full-time board member of the Pagosa Springs Community Development Corporation to pursue more specific development projects, announced that he was wrapping up his work with the Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District to bring more infrastructure to the east end of town, and had set his sights on a new target.

“Over my thirteen years of residence here,” Weiler began, “I have seen us work on a variety of projects — some that have come to fruition, some that apparently were too difficult, and some that we are still working on, not because the idea was bad, but because it wasn’t the right time for the idea. I have adjusted my sights to items that are valuable to our community but don’t currently exist. What I would like to do is start a bit of visioning about the possibility of a rec center.
