Pagosa Springs Rotary Club President Livia Lynch invites you to attend the Kentucky Derby Gala on Saturday, May 4, at Keyah Grande.

It’s Kentucky Derby Day — Saturday, May 4.

You’ve just driven your car through the entrance gate of Keyah Grande. Decked-out in your best Kentucky Derby duds, you feel like you’re ready to slide into your box at Churchill Downs’ “Millionaires Row.”

You’ve always wanted to see Keyah Grande from the inside, and now that you’re here ... well, it’s even more stunning and gorgeous than you had imagined.

Adding to the splendor are the snazzy decorations, the “live” music, great food, and colorfully-dressed Pagosans sipping on mint juleps and plunking down their bets on the thoroughbred horse they know will win this year’s Kentucky Derby.

Here comes the bugler with the call to the post, and you get ready to join millions of other viewers from around the world for the singing of “My Old Kentucky Home.”

A few more sips of your mint julep and you’re watching these magnificent horses being loaded into the starting gate. “The fastest two minutes in sports” is just moments away.

This is almost as elegant and exciting as being in Kentucky for the race.

It’s a feel-good entertainment bargain at $35 per person.

The feel-good gets even better when you realize that the money raised at Rotary’s Kentucky Derby Gala supports many of the local Rotary projects, such as the scholarship fund for deserving Pagosa High School grads.

A limited number of tickets will be sold. They are available at Goodman’s and Happy Trails downtown, at Exit Realty on Put Hill or from any Rotarian. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.pagosaspringsrotary.eventbrite.com/.
