Tomorrow is the deadline to register for participation in this year’s tee-ball league.

Any child who was 5 or 6 years old as of April 1 is eligible to participate. Registrations are available at the recreation office in Town Hall and have been dispersed at local schools, as well.

Registrations are also available for download in Adobe format through the recreation department link at www.townofpagosasprings.com.

Cost is $30 per player and $15 for each additional child in the same, immediate family who participates. Weather permitting, the season is tentatively scheduled to begin in early May.

Coaches and sponsorships for this year’s tee-ball teams are also needed and appreciated. Cost for sponsorship is $150, which includes sponsor’s name on team uniforms, commemorative plaque with team picture, and recognition in media articles.

For more information, call the recreation office at 264-4151 Ext. 231 or 232.

Gymnastics

Monday is the deadline to register for the upcoming session of gymnastics (provided classes have not reached maximum size).

Through a partnership with Pagosa Springs Middle School and local instructor Jennifer Martin, the Town of Pagosa Springs Recreation Department is offering this program for ages 3 and up.

Classes, which will be strictly limited to no more than 10 students per age group, begin April 16 and will run through May 17. Classes will be held in the middle school “mat room” (wrestling room) according to the following schedule:

Classes for ages 6 and 7 will be held Tuesdays and/or Thursdays (parents have the option to choose one day or the other, but not both) from 4-4:50 p.m. Classes for ages 8 and 9 will be held Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 5-5:50 p.m. Classes for ages 10 and up will be held Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 6-6:50 p.m.

In addition, classes will be held Fridays from 2-2:50 p.m. for ages 4 and 5, and an introductory class for ages 3 and 4 will be held Fridays from 3-3:50 p.m. Class size for Fridays will be limited to eight.

Since classes will only meet once per week, registration cost has been reduced from $77 to $35. Registrations are available at the recreation office in Town Hall and are posted in Adobe format on the recreation department page at www.townofpagosasprings.com.

For more information call 264-4151, Ext. 231 or 232.

Baseball clinic

Registration is now open for a free baseball clinic which will be hosted by local coaches and instructors at the high school ball fields May 3-4.

The clinic is open to boys and girls ages 8-13. Participants will receive instruction and repetitions aimed at developing fundamental skills for throwing, fielding, pitching and catching. All skill levels are encouraged to attend.

Registrations are available at the recreation office in Town Hall and at the middle school front desk. Registrations can also be downloaded in Adobe format from the recreation department page at www.townofpagosasprings.com.

Players will be grouped by age and/or ability level. Skills evaluations will be done Friday to determine which participants will be placed into pitching- and catching-specific drills. All others will focus on fielding and throwing drills.

The clinic will run from 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m. May 3 and from 8:30 a.m.-noon May 4. Parents and coaches are welcome to stay throughout the clinic to observe and will be encouraged to help reinforce drills at home, practices and games. Participants will need to bring their own gloves and drinks. Since this is not a hitting clinic, no bats will be allowed.
