Glen Eyre, age 65, and Linda Eyre, age 63, of Grand Junction, Colo., passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013. A memorial service celebrating their lives will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Crossroads United Methodist Church, located at 599 30 Road in Grand Junction, Colo.

Glen and Linda began their lives in Omaha, Neb., and Council Bluffs, Iowa. Upon graduating from high school, both ended up in Fort Collins, Colo., and married on Aug. 3, 1968. Their son, Kevin, was born in Longmont, Colo., in December 1970. Upon Glen returning from Vietnam, they moved to Springfield, Colo., where Glen began his career with the Colorado Division of Wildlife, as district wildlife manager. Their daughter, Julie, was born in September 1973. They were able to relocate to Pagosa Springs, Colo., in May 1977, when Glen received a transfer from the Division of Wildlife. After the kids started school, Linda went to work for the Pagosa Hardware, and also worked at Pagosa Floors and Lights. Eventually, she ended up at the Archuleta County Extension Office, where she organized everything 4-H.

While in Pagosa, their love for the outdoors flourished, spending as much time outside in the woods as physically possible. They were also very active in their children’s activities and the United Methodist Church. They both retired, for the first time, in May 1999. After a few years of backpacking and playing, they returned to work for the United State Forest Service, as wilderness rangers and working in the Range Division. They retired the second and final time in October 2009.

Around this time, they permanently relocated to Grand Junction, Colo., and began the prime of their lives. When they weren’t busy enjoying their three grandchildren, they were hiking, bowling, skiing or spending time with Linda’s parents.

They are survived by parents Charles and Katherine Herren; son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Stephanie Eyre of Fort Collins, Colo., daughter and son-in-law Julie and John Constan of Grand Junction, Colo.; and three grandchildren.
