The second meeting of the Imagine Downtown group will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan 3, at the Ross Aragon Community Center.

The purpose of the group is to put into action the initiatives suggested by the Downtown Colorado Inc. Team when they came and did an assessment on Nov. 13-14.

All are welcome to attend and share ideas, as well as take part in this effort to enliven and improve our downtown.

The topics for discussion are:

  • Forming a common vision for the group.
  • Creating an informal organization for the Imagine Downtown Initiative.
  • Organizing a website, contacts and communications.
  • Getting reports from action groups.

The first meeting held on Nov. 29 was well attended by both private citizens and representatives of many local organizations and non-profits.

As a result of that first meeting, two action groups were formed — one to investigate a formal organization, and the other to start decorating empty storefronts.

The result of that initiative is a student art show that can be viewed in all the vacant downtown city market complex storefronts. The theme of the artwork is “We believe in Pagosa” and the large banner on the building is a celebration of their efforts.
