Get out the shovels, call the plows, there’s more snow in the forecast for Pagosa Country.

With the holiday tourist season right around the corner, the snowfall couldn’t be more welcome. What was shaping up to be a slim-to-none situation has turned to one of promise, with plenty of powder at Wolf Creek.

The Accuweather site predicts snow increasing today and tonight. Accuweather is calling for 3-6 inches by Wednesday morning, snow tapering off Wednesday and sunny skies for Thursday and Friday.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has issued a winter storm warning for the area, predicting hazardous weather conditions, particularly on high mountain passes. The NOAA forecast is for snow today, mainly in the afternoon, continuing through the night, with 1-2 inches possible today, 5-9 by tomorrow morning, and snow primarily in the morning Wednesday with another inch or so possible. Skies are forecast to clear Wednesday night, with mostly sunny conditions Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Cold temperatures are set to follow the storm. Below-zero temps are forecast for Wednesday night, with single digit lows Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
