Annual Hospice Tree of Lights service offers way to remember loved ones

Posted

Hospice of Mercy will host the annual Tree of Lights memorial service on Thursday, Dec. 13, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Pagosa Springs Chamber of Commerce.

December is the perfect time of year to honor friends and family who are no longer with us and keep them in our hearts at this special time.

The Tree of Lights service brings community members together to remember loved ones at the holidays.

Names of loved ones will be read at the service and there will be musical reflection.

The program for “A Gathering of Remembrance” is as follows:

As we move into the holiday season this year, we come together to celebrate the light within each of us and within the people we are here to remember.

Music Prelude: Grace Church Worship Team.

Welcome and introduction: Tina Gallegos.

Readings: Diane Geraghty and Kati Bachman.

Reading of names: Trisha Arrighetti.

Special music and placing names on the tree.

Words of remembrance and sharing: Don Strait and all.

Special music and lighting of candles.

Blessing: Don Strait.

Moment of silence followed by “Silent Night” (sung in unison).

Tree of Lights is a free event and open to the community. Community members do not have to have had a loved one in hospice to attend. Current and past hospice families are welcome.

You can also order a keepsake ornament personalized with a message of your choice by downloading an order form on the website or ordering at the Tree of Lights service. For more information, visit www.hospiceofmercy.org or call (970) 382-2000.
