Edward Kaumeyer, 91, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, in Wheat Ridge, Colo.

He was born in Lancaster, Ohio, Dec. 4, 1920, and was the oldest of four brothers and a sister.

Ed served in the Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1945 and was awarded the Bronze Star.

He met Ginny Held when he returned to Columbus, Ohio, and they married in July of 1946. Ed worked at Western Electric until his retirement in 1982 when he and Ginny moved to Pagosa Springs and built their home. There they began new adventures and made new friends. He loved the Colorado outdoors and living closer to his daughters and their families. He enjoyed playing golf, hiking, square dancing and learning to cross country ski.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Linda Kaumeyer and Tom Hart and Cheryl and John Wethey; grandchildren Kristen and Shelby Downs, Galen and Cambria Wethey; great-grandson Cooper — all of Colorado — and his sister Karol Jean. His brothers and Ginny preceded Ed in death.

A service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 11 a.m. in The Chapel at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a nonprofit organization of choice.
