Heavy mountain snow/valley rain continues

Expect 1-3 feet snow in the mountains above 8,000 ft. with rain at lower elevations.

A winter storm will bring heavy-wet snowfall to all higher elevations of eastern Utah and western Colorado, generally above 8,000 feet. Snow will persist through Thursday night, but the heaviest snowfall is expected this afternoon through tonight. Higher terrain above 8,000 feet are forecast to receive 1 to 2 feet of snow with upwards of 3 feet in the San Juans. Lower elevations below 8,000 feet will most likely see rain. Snow melt in combination with rain on snow could create potential issues. Mountain passes may become impassable at times, especially over the southern mountains.
