Food-related activities will lead up to April 9 Archuleta County Food System Summit

In preparation for the upcoming Archuleta County Food System Summit on Saturday, April 9, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the CSU Extension building, the community is invited to participate in a series of food-related activities and tours in the week leading up to the event. 

These activities will facilitate the community’s diverse food system stakeholders to define and build connections throughout our region’s food system. These actions and activities highlight some of the great work already happening around the community that are actively engaged in strengthening the local food system and moving us toward nutrition security and food equity so that everyone in the community has access to affordable, nutritious, fresh foods. 

Mark your calendar and please join us to learn more and be engaged in the communities celebration and vision for a sustainable and equitable food system:

• Tuesday, April, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: A taste of Archuleta County Hispanic and indigenous heritage food demonstration Registration required: fsfearchuleta@gmail.com or (401) 371-3227.

• Wednesday, April 6, 10 a.m. to noon: Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership domes and Pagosa Springs Community Garden tours, Centennial Park.

• Thursday, April 7, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.: Vista Lake Community Garden Tour, 230 Port Ave., meet at the clubhouse.

• Friday, April 8, time and location to be determined: Boosting Soil Health: Food Waste/Compost Demo.
