The Pagosa Springs High School Lady Pirate swim team will resume regular-season competition this weekend on Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Salida Meet, held at Salida High School.

Action is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m.

The Lady Pirates last competed on Dec. 18, 2021, before the holiday break, in the Montrose Meet.

Coach Heather Miller explained in an email to The SUN that the Lady Pirates were not able to practice as much as they had hoped to over the break due to travel concerns related to the winter storms that hit the area over the past two weeks.

“Unfortunately, due to the snow we only got over to Durango to swim twice, so our break practices were not as productive as we hoped,” Miller wrote.

The Lady Pirates have been unable to use their home facility at the Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association recreation center this season due to repairs being made.

“We will get in a couple good practices this week focusing on walls (starts and turns) as well as developing more speed,” Miller added.
