The Pagosa Springs Instrumental Music Society (PSIMS), otherwise known as the Pagosa Springs Community Band, will perform its Fall Concert featuring American composers on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Pagosa Springs High School auditorium. There is no charge for admission, though donations are happily accepted.

Larry Elginer and Malinda Burnette, our middle school music maven, will conduct pieces inspired by water, weather and the great wide West composed by Ed Huckeby, Robert W. Smith, James Corigliano, Chris M. Bernotas, Carl Strommen and James Swearingen.

PSIMS is a gathering of local musicians of all ages for the purpose of supporting music education and appreciation in Pagosa Springs. Our motto is “Music for Life.” We express our love of music by performing four times a year — on July 4; the springtime Band-O-Rama, which features the school bands as well; the Heralds of Christmas Concert (this year on Dec. 19 at 3 p.m. at the high school); and the Fall Concert, where we show off our full talent. Donations are used to support school music programs and young musicians with music, lessons, instruments, repairs and supplies.

If you have an instrument abandoned in your closet, get it out and come play with us in our next concert, or you may want to donate it to a child in the community who will bring it to life. Contact us at
