The Pagosa Farmers Market ended its 12th successful season last Saturday with thanks to all our local customers and vendors. 

As the season puts an end to one venue, another is winding up. We encourage the community to go to the Pagosa Farmers Market Online and connect with our online vendors at this year-round venue. 

The online market — — during the off season will include products that are different from the summer market as it must, since the abundance of fresh vegetables that represent the “soul” of the live market, is sadly reduced to a trickle. 

We offer the venue as a great way for our local food entrepreneurs to add to the family budget without incurring expense. We encourage anyone interested in starting down this path to take the Cottage Food Training offered by Colorado State University as an introduction to the possibilities. The next class is Oct. 2. Sign up at In addition, we invite our local farmers who are producing cheese, meats, eggs and poultry to consider the online market place.

Money spent locally benefits our community and adds to the economic vitality; that means we all thrive, and to the degree that we can build on our local production engines, we are increasingly resilient and sustainable, and our tread on the planet is just that much lighter.
