The Valle Seco 2019 Land Exchange project involves the exchange of nine federal parcels of land on the San Juan National Forest (SJNF) totaling approximately 380 acres for one nonfederal parcel of land totaling 880 acres, according to a public notice printed in this week’s SUN.
A draft decision notice and finding of no significant impact is available for the project. The notice states that the “Responsible Official is Kara Chadwick, Forest Supervisor. It is the Responsible Official’s intention to select Alternative 3 Modified for this project.”
According to the notice, objections pertaining to the project will only be accepted from those who have previously submitted specific written comments regarding the land exchange during scoping or another designated opportunity for public comment for the land exchange project.

An objection, including attachments, must be postmarked or received within 45 days after the date of publication.
