On Aug. 10, Pagosa Fire Protection District (PFPD) personnel responded to a garage fire on Lakeside Drive.

The call for the fire came in at approximately 12:21 p.m. via a 911 call to Archuleta County Combined Dispatch, according to a PFPD press release.

The press release explains that, upon arrival, personnel discovered a “detached garage with scorch marks showing around the garage door.”

The press release further explains, “Thermal imaging showed heat signatures near the eaves.”

Firefighters deployed hose lines and entered the structure, the release explains, and found that the fire was contained to a small area.

The fire was contained to the area of ignition and did not spread to structural components, the press release notes.

The garage was unoccupied at the time of the fire, according to the PFPD, and firefighters were on scene for approximately one hour.

The origin and cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to the press release. No injuries were reported.

The PFPD responded with two engines, one wildland engine, two chief vehicles, one fire marshal vehicle, one support vehicle, seven paid staff members and two volunteers.
