Pagosa Springs High School
The Pagosa Springs High School wrestling coaching staff will be holding youth wrestling classes every Wednesday for the next five weeks (June 16, 23, 30, July 7 and 16) at the high school wrestling room.
Perfect for beginners, the classes will use a “games approach” to teach wrestling movements and reactions. Some basic wrestling-based fitness and athletic development activities are also included.
Wrestling and “tussling” with friends is something nearly every kid enjoys and having fun learning some elements of the sport of wrestling at a young age helps set the groundwork for more formalized training in later years. Many of our successful wrestlers over the past five years have gotten their start in wrestling in this manner.
Classes are free; parents must sign a permission waiver.
Classes for students entering the sixth through eighth grades are held from 8 to 9 a.m. every Wednesday in the high school wrestling room. Classes for the third through fifth grades will be immediately following from 9 to 10 a.m., also in the high school wrestling room.
