On Sunday, Feb. 28, the Wolf Creek Ski Team hosted the first race of the Wolf Creek Challenge Series.

The event helped raise money for the Wolf Creek Ski Team, a local nonprofit youth alpine ski team. The money raised from the race helps the ski team attend out-of-town races, pay for ski equipment and gear, and aids in team-related scholarships.

The race was open to all levels of boarders and alpine skiers. Area ski teams who attended included the Santa Fe Ski Team, the Continental Divide Freeride Team and the Hinsdale Ski Team. A total of 36 racers of all ages and abilities sped from the top of Charisma to the bottom and competed for the top spot.

The fastest racer of the day was Corbin Horrocks, 13, from South Fork. The next race in the series will be on April 3. Please keep an eye out for race details in the coming weeks.

The Wolf Creek Ski Team appreciates all the support from the community in and around Pagosa Springs and Wolf Creek Ski Area, and we love the normalcy racing brings in these challenging times.
