Archuleta County anticipated to move to Level Orange Monday

Archuleta County will move to Level Orange: High Risk on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021.

Archuleta County and San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) began working toward a move to Level Orange with a mitigation plan earlier this week, but, late Wednesday, Gov. Jared Polis announced that he had asked the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to move all Colorado counties in Level Red up to Level Orange next Monday.

That, he indicated, is because Colorado had seen 13 days of sustained decline and “only 73% of ICU beds statewide are in use.”

SJBPH Executive Director Liane Jollon confirmed the move in a Thursday update, but noted that measures such as face coverings, distancing and more continue to be necessary.

“Thank you for the good work you’ve done, each and every one of you,” she said in the update.

As of early Thursday afternoon, county and public health officials were still unsure if Archuleta County will need a mitigation plan in place for the move.
