Special to The SUN

The Pagosa Springs Choral Society will ring in the Christmas season by presenting its annual community Christmas concerts in the Pagosa Springs High School auditorium on Nov. 30 at 7 p.m., Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. and on Dec. 2 at 4 p.m.

A choir of about 60 of your friends and neighbors will present a program of both sacred and seasonal music for the holiday season under the direction of Dan Burch, music director of Pagosa Springs High School, with Venita Burch accompanying on the piano.

The theme of the concert is “It’s Beginning To Look Like Christmas” and will feature selections such as “Angels We Have Heard,” “Come Messiah King” and “Christmas Is the Best Time of the Year.” A select jazz ensemble will also perform seasonal selections for the concert.

Four of the selections will be sung “in the round” with the choir surrounding the audience, with the remaining selections being presented from the stage. As has become traditional, the performance will conclude with the singing of the “Hallelujah Chorus” from George Frideric Handel’s “Messiah.”

The concerts are free to the community, but those in attendance will have the opportunity to give a free-will offering to provide music scholarships for students from Pagosa Springs High School.
