Booster club supporters catch the hometown spirit

By Allison Wylie
Special to The SUN
The Pagosa Springs Athletic Booster Club is at it again. Pirate fans can watch for hometown game night flags waving at participating businesses in support of the home team.
Booster Club officers went door to door hanging flags at businesses that wanted to participate in cheering on our student athletes for home games.
We were trying to get ideas to help capture that hometown feeling that draws people to our small town. Amy Torrez came up with this great idea to generate community Pirate spirit and the club ran with it.
If any business would like to participate in flying high the Pirate flag on hometown game days, email Amy Wilson at amywilson141@gmail.com or Al Wylie at awylie@centurytel.net to get your free flag.
Participating businesses agree to put flags out during business hours the day of the games. You will get a reminder email or text and a reminder calendar.
The Boosters are also getting ready for Halloween, so mark your calendar for Oct. 25, 26 and 27. Club members will be scaring up a haunted maze for all ages at the Pagosa Springs High School ball fields with an earlier non-scare time for the younger customers then a frightening later bewitching hour for those who like to be terrified.
We will be needing extras to volunteer to help scare our maze runners. Also, if you have any scary costumes and props you would like to donate, we would gladly accept.
Email Allison Wylie at awylie@centurytel.net. Be on the lookout for spooky details to be posted in future SUN articles.
