Join musician and music therapist Paul Roberts for a free hand-drumming class at the Pagosa Lakes Clubhouse on Tuesday, May 15, at noon.

The class offers a welcoming environment that encourages fun, creativity, playfulness and connecting with others. Drums are provided for those who do not have one.

The rhythm of the season reverberates with bird songs rippling through the mountains. With blossoming flowers, springtime inspiration sparks artistic expression, unleashing creativity.

A recent study published in the journal Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience provides evidence that music accelerates brain development in young children, particularly in the areas of the brain responsible for processing sound, language development, speech perception and reading skills.

The current scientific fascination with the power of music, stems from the use of brain scans and other techniques to monitor changes in the brain, revealing that music gives rise to a full-brain workout, an observation that has opened a new dawn in the exploration of the benefits of music in education, health and happiness.

Young children are naturally drawn to music and so are adults. The drumming class focuses on joyfully exploring music in an interactive, social and easily accessible way.
