Special to The PREVIEW
Tonight’s the night. Do you love to sing? Enjoy performing? Love to travel? Would you enjoy having a private tutor to help your voice? Are you a middle school-aged girl in the fifth through eighth grade? If you answered yes to those questions, then come to the Pagosa Springs Middle School band room tonight, Thursday, Aug. 24, at 7 p.m., where you have a final opportunity to be a part of the Pagosa Springs Girls Choir (PSGC) for the 2017-2018 school year.
For the audition, students will be asked to sing “America” (“My Country ‘Tis of Thee”), echo sing some melodic patterns and echo clap some rhythm patterns. Once a member of the choir, girls spend much of their time learning vocal and choral techniques. However, they also learn about stage presence and musicianship. Girls learn and sing music of all genres and some of their music includes props and choreography.
The PSGC has an exciting year in store. This will be our fifth year of existence and will be marked by some special activities. In addition to performing for many community events and concerts, the girls will take part in a master class given by instructors from New York and they will participate in the Christmas Tea at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church. This landmark year will culminate in a stellar educational trip next summer.
If tonight’s audition time won’t work for you, call Director Linda Parker at 264-1434 or 946-9329 and she will arrange a different time for you to audition.
Come share the music, the good times, the new friends and the exciting opportunities that will come your way as a part of the PSGC. See you tonight.
If you have questions or need more information, call Parker at the number above. The PSGC website is www.singpagosa.org.
