THRIVE presents “Laugh for Life” starring Mike Williams, a nationally known speaker and writer who has a passion for life on Thursday, Aug. 24, 7 p.m. at Centerpoint Church.

Williams can be heard daily on Sirius XM’s Laugh USA. Williams has recorded 17 comedy projects and written eight books, including “Men Moved to Mars When Women Started Killing the Ones on Venus” and “Love is NOT a Three-Letter Word” (a new look at abstinence).

His own personal adoption story and the rescue and subsequent adoption of his son will move you to tears of joy.

Williams’ G-rated humor will have you rolling on the floor with laughter, while simultaneously building your reverence for the work of local life-saving organizations.

Tickets are on sale now for $20. They are available at the Pagosa Springs Area Chamber of Commerce, THRIVE, by phone at 264-5963 or online at www.thrivepagosa.org/events-1/.

“Laugh for Life” is a fundraiser to benefit THRIVE Medical Services and Education. In September 2016, THRIVE opened a prenatal and well woman care clinic on Wednesdays with Dr. Carole Nasralla and Dr. Fran Schreiber. As the only source for prenatal care, childbirth education classes and parenting/prenatal education in Archuleta County currently, THRIVE provides free services in order to improve pregnancy outcomes and support the well-being of families in our community.

Without THRIVE, many families would have to travel to Durango or not receive the care needed. Studies confirm that late prenatal care increases the risk of a poor birth outcome. According to national data, two of the top reasons women delay prenatal care are transportation challenges and financial barriers.

Over the next three to five years, we are committed to continue expanding our prenatal care program as well as work with other health care providers to support the increasing demands for affordable prenatal care.

We also have bilingual translators and client advocates to serve our Spanish-speaking residents. Our overall goal is to improve pregnancy outcomes and to support the well-being of families in Archuleta County.

THRIVE is also committed to provide prenatal and parenting education for teens, men and women in Archuleta County. Whether it is through expanding our Earn While You Learn (EWYL) curriculum or expanding our clinic, we want to meet the communities’ needs in a simplified, relatable, timely and helpful way.

THRIVE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. For more information, visit thrivepagosa.org.
