The Pagosa Springs High School boys’ soccer team logged another two wins over the last week, defeating the Alamosa Mean Moose 3-2 and the Ridgway Demons 2-0 on Sept. 25 and 26.

The undefeated Pirates are now the No. 3-ranked team in Colorado 3A boys’ soccer, behind Kent Denver and KIPP.

Friday’s game against the Mean Moose was in close fashion, with the game-winning goal hitting the back of the net with only 15 seconds remaining.

“The reality is that we have a bunch of guys working well together and that each game they are fighting like they have their backs up against the wall,” coach Lindsey Kurt-Mason noted in a written statement to The SUN.

Alamosa’s Moises Juarez scored first in Friday evening’s affair, with a little over 28 minutes left in the half, and held that lead until there were less than six minutes left in the half.

The Pirates’ first goal came from James Berndt with an assist awarded to Maverick Miller.

The second half would prove to be just as close, with Pagosa’s Mathew Breman scoring with one touch off an assist from Berndt shortly into the second half and Juarez scoring one for Alamosa minutes later.
