It was a busy week for the Pagosa Springs High School golf team, with three tournaments in five days and 10 different Pirate golfers seeing varsity action.
Over the five-day span, the team competed in Monte Vista, Durango and Cortez, leaving only one tournament on the schedule before regionals next Tuesday.
Both tournaments the Pirates will participate in over the next week will be hosted by Rye and will take place at the Hollydot Golf Club in Colorado City, including a regular-season tournament on Sept. 18 and regionals on Sept. 22.
“At this point, we’re trying to get down to the last four who will go to regionals,” coach Mark Faber said, explaining that he wants to give the golfers as much of a chance as possible to improve and to see who is strongest going into the tournament.
Helping to factor into that decision, perhaps, will also be the three tournaments that took place in the last week.
On Friday, Sept. 11, Pagosa headed to the Monte Vista Golf Club.
In Monte Vista, Tanner Peart led the Pirates with a 91, followed by Dane Kline, who shot a 95.
